Hue Vietnam

One of the prettiest train journeys yet, up the coast of Vietnam.

Hue was once the political, cultural & religious capital of Vietnam.

The dragon boats for tourist rides up the Perfume River.

We took one of the dragon boats up to the famous Thien Mu Pagoda and were dropped off at the 19th century Citadel which houses the original Imperial City.  It was massive, much of it is in ruins but they are slowly bringing it back to life with great care and expertise.  It also housed the Imperial Residence along with a number of palaces.

Josh fitting in with the locals again!

This is the car in which the burning monk arrived in. (See Ho Chi Minh post for info)

        Pretty Bonsai Tree display.

         Warrior Josh!

  The Enormous & fascinating Citadel

Such pretty, well cared for gardens surround the reconstructed buildings.

                    The restoration is just spectacular.
