We went to view the changing of the guard but we think something more important was going on that day as it was very crowded with spectators. We could just see soldiers marching & doing some tricks with their guns. Shame we couldn't get a closer look!
Such beautiful architecture throughout the city.
Sunday afternoon in the square brought out crowds of locals & a local band with traditionally dressed dancers.
We also stumbled onto a Sunday morning cycle race! There were even little dogs in baskets with cycle helmets on!
Peru version of Tuk Tuks!
Museum time!!
It seems romance is not dead in Lima as we found a little square where a little old man played music & couples joined together to dance the day away!
A bit of a walk down hill from the city centre is a beautiful stony beach which was very popular with the locals!
Down the market. Everything from fish & chicken to clothes & shoes.
A trip to Latin America's largest annual food festival proved delicious!!! So much food & drink to try but we did steer clear of the roasted Guinea Pigs!!!!! A much loved local delicacy!!!!!
BBQ Guinea Pig anyone?
A chocolate R2D2 for Josh!
A trip to Parque de la Reserve to finish off the day. The park was commisioned by one of the past presidents who spent millions on installing 15 fountains of different shapes & sizes & cleaning up the park only to then charge people to visit! There was local uproar at the cost & then the admission fee but since then the park has proved very popular with tourists as well as locals and they have now forecast that they will get the cost back in half the time they were expecting! When night time falls the fountains come to life with colour, with the highlight being a water, laser, light & music show three times per night!
