Last trip to Bangkok!

Our dining room in our apartment! Josh thought it was ver cool.  When finished the table lifts & hooks to the wall so you can chill out in front of the TV!! There was even a folder full of DVD's to choose  from!  Heaven for our Josh!!

We saved our trip to the 'Thonburi' the khlongs (canals) of Bangkok to our last visit.  So called the Venice of the East due to its busy waterways.  Josh was in his element as we spead down the river to the lock that would take us into the meandering waterways. We found homes, shops & temples within the waterways and we even had a lovely lady float up to us in her boat to sell us some drinks.

We set off on an expedition to find the 'umbrella market.'  It took an underground train, a sky train, 2 trains, a ferry & 4 hours to get to our destination!! We were up super early!!!!  The story goes that the market was there first and when the railway came they stayed & just adjusted their stalls.  It was great, when a train is coming or leaving they push pack their stock (some of which were on wheels) and then lift back their sun shades until the train has passed, then everything goes back until the train departs once more.  This happens six times in a day!! They have this down to a knack and the whole process takes minutes to complete!  You can then walk up the track & buy fruit, vegetables and seafood!!

Waiting for the first train.  Sun is shining & the Monks are out collecting the morning offerings and performing blessings on the people.

These lovely ladies were on an OAP day trip on our second train of the day.  They made us feel very welcome & made sure they found us on the train heading home.

It seams to be laundry day every day in Thailand.  You can spot washing hanging up everywhere daily!

These are the salt fields.  Sea water is pumped into the fields & left to dry out by the sun.  It is then collected up and sent to a plant for cleaning & packaging.

             The Market!

  Organic veggies at their best!!
They take such great pride in their presentation of their wears & the colours are so vibrant.

You can even buy delicious fried frogs on a stick!!! MMMmmmm!!!!!

The famous 'Dorian' fruit that is banned on the underground throughout Thailand due to its potent smell once opened!! Apparently it is delicious & is very popular amongst the locals!

This is a dragon fruit.
It is white inside with tiny black pips.  Haven't found one with very much flavour yet but refreshing.

Lychee's

Of course a visit to the local temple is compulsory wherever we are in Thailand.

The train literally skims over the produce.

Cheeky wee trip to the cinema to see the new Jungle Book!

They love their flower garlands in Thailand so the flower market is always fully stocked!
