Wilderness & George S.Africa

We stayed in the beautiful Plettenberg Bay for the night.  It is a beautiful little place with a beautiful beach.  Josh & I had a stroll along the beach & played some games.

The next day it was a visit to Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre in Plettenberg Bay.  We had a guide who showed us 'The Furry 5' which are black footed cats, African wild cats, Caracal, Serval & Cheetah.  These animals are all rescue animals who will never be released back into the wild.  They live in a semi-natural environment with lots of space to roam around.

                                     

More animals to spot.  This time monkeys.  There were lots of them hanging from trees, sitting up high enjoying the view, playing with their siblings and munching on some fruit.  We even saw some using stones to break into nuts.  These animals are so clever.  There are Around 15 different species who live harmoniously in their free roaming sanctuary.  They were such great fun to watch & were very cheeky trying to steal our shoelaces as we walked across the bridge.

       

                                 

           

                                         

                                      

We had a fantastic Tapas lunch in the beautiful Bramon vineyard.  The tables are set within the vineyard with signs reminding you if you want wine then hands off the grapes!! Lucky for us it is winter so no grapes equals no temptation!!! 

Cape Town Tour Day 1

                        

  After landing we were collected by Eugene our Gecko tour guide for the next 8 days. 

The famous Table Mountain. Unfortunately it was too cloudy to go up.  Eugene told us we wouldn't see anything so we decided to postpone to another day & just explore our neighbourhood.  We were based in the V&A Waterfront which has many restaurants, bars, a huge shopping mall & street entertainers. It's a picturesque lively area with a real buzz. 

             

             And we're off on our 8 day tour of South Africa's Garden Route.

      After six weeks in India's scorching heat it was trousers & jumpers in South Africa.

We headed past Sea Point & Camps Bay to the fishing village of Houts Bay for a boat trip to Seal Island.  The water was so choppy but we did make it.  There were hundreds of seals basking in the sunshine or messing about in the water.

We then headed through Chapman's Peak to Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve & then to Cape Point.

Up the funicular railway tithe top for stunning views of the coastline. 

       Just WOW!!!

The Cape of Good Hope which many believe is where the Atlantic ocean & the Indian Ocean meet but they would be wrong. It's further up the coast but Eugene says it's no where nears pretty!

We then stopped off for some fantastic sea food in Simons Town & then popped along to visit these cute guys.  They were enjoying the sunshine & the seawater. 

             

             

We finished off day one with a wander around the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens at the base of the a Eastern slopes of Table Mountain.  

It is huge and very well laid out with many paths and a tree top walkway high in the sky.  

            

                                    

                                  

It also had an indoor garden of cacti of many sizes and shapes.
