'Sculptures by the Sea' on the coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama Beach Sydney

Every year there is a free art exhibition which runs along the coastal walk from Bondi, featuring over 100 sculptures, from the bizarre to the truly exeptional, concluding with a compilation of about 20 on Tamarama Beach.  It only lasts for two weeks but is well worth a trip.  I still wonder how they get all of these colosal sculptures into place within one night!

These are just a few of our favourites!

                                                                                                 Target practice anyone?

This one  is made from chicken wire & Barbie dolls!

Rather 'ghostly' this one I think.

                                                          Joshua's favourite two!

100 days have passed

This week we passed the 100 day mark since Caroline & Josh left Scotland at the beginning of September.

After all the fun in the Sunshine State, we took the worlds longest commercial flight from Dallas, TX to Sydney, Australia - a mere 16 hours to enjoy the delights of the worlds best airliner, the Airbus A380.

We've rented an apartment in the centre of Sydney in a district known as The Rocks.  It's just a few minutes walk to Circular Quay, the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge and we have a west-facing balcony with views over Darling Harbour, meaning we get to enjoy some great sunsets from the comfort of our sofa

Days have been spent combining some school work for Josh with exploring the city and the areas around the bay with evenings at local restaurants, at the theatre or strolls in one of the many local parks or around the harbour.

Being an avid watcher of the soap opera Home & Away, Caroline loved our trip to Palm Beach where the show is filmed:

In October, Caroline & Josh took a 5-hour flight over to the west coast city of Perth for a quick visit to relatives.

Sydney's city and the harbour area are jammed with some great walks around the water. We've explored a lot of them & no visit to Sydney is complete without taking a ferry to Taronga Zoo

There always seems to be plenty going on with Sculptures by the Sea being a big hit with locals and visitors alike:

Opportunities for Shows and Concerts have just kept coming.... Les Mis, Matilda, Cats and Mary Poppins at the various theatres and Robbie Williams at the Allphones Arena

Plus, we get a weekly firework display on our doorstep when Darling Harbour fire up their show each Saturday night:

As the last few days of the year approach, we're now counting down to Christmas and New Years Eve and beginning to plan the next stage of our trip which will probably see us head off to explore South East Asia.
