Austin Texas/Grand Prix

A wee hop on the plane brings us to cowboy country for a few days with a three day Grand Prix extravaganza!  Not short on advertising for the Grand Prix

A wander along the river after a spot of shopping & ice cream.

Austin is Americas 'Food Truck' capital!  They are literally everywhere offering everything from tacos, Greek food, burgers, pizza, vegan foods & Asian noodles!!

En route to dinner we discover how Texans keep fit after all the food truck visits!

We found a fab ice cream shop 'Spun' that makes your ice cream from scratch before your very eyes with dry ice & a mixing bowl.  It was the smoothest ice cream we have ever had & acording to Josh the 'Coolest'!

Day 1 of our Grand Prix weekend.  Exploring the venue & testing out vantage points for the big race!

Something for the Santa list in a few years!

Spot of 'Cornhole' (beanbag toss) en route to the bus.

McLaren were having their pre-race party in our neighbourhood! There were some very nice cars in the car park!

Day 2, qualifying day!

Added bonus with our Grand Prix tickets was a Taylor Swift concert in the evening!  She was excellent!

In situ for the big race with a great view of the starting line, the pit lane & corner one! Our boy Lewis in pole position so fingers crossed for top of the podium!

Had a few friends join us at corner one!!

The marching bands of America were out in force!

Track invasion time after a great race.  Our boy on the top of the podium!!!

Well Done Lewis!!! Team GB No1 at the finish line!!!!

Time for this evening's concert!! Usher this time!!

Last day of exploring Austin.  A trip to the Capital building.  Beautiful building built in 1888 & undergoing a maintenance overhaul!  Texas is know as the Lone Star state & they take their star very seriously as these five pointed stars are on everything from chairs & floors to light fixtures!

Wee Night out to watch the football at the local thanks to our fantastic Airbnb child sitting hosts!  Upon our return it was board games & wine to finish off our fun stay in Austin!

San Francisco

Road trip time from LA to San Francisco via Morro Bay for a night.

Morro Bay is a sleepy little fishing village.  It was halfway on the roadtrip and had some great fish & chips!

Our motel room came complete with the 'Magic Fingers Massage Bed' which of coarse we had to try out! It was noisy & not very effective!!

Wee pit stop to see the colony of elephant seals.  At this time of year there are only the juveniles hanging out.

Unfortunately our drive through the 'Big Sur' was very overcast so no great views but still a nice drive.

Wander to Pier 39 for a view of the Golden Gate Bridge & Alcatraz!

There were two cruise ships docked so it was a bit busy!

Riding the rails of the cable cars!

Time for a little magic with Peter Morrison. He has a small theatre that holds only 30/35 people for some very close up magic tricks.

         Time for some Raiders action.

The game was great but the weather was atrocious.  It was like watching the game in the shower!

         And the Bridge!!!!!

A fantastic museum with loads of artifacts & stories about the making of Walt Disney & the birth of Mickey Mouse.  Complete with a huge model of the original layout of Disneyland.

San Francisco is one of my very favourite places to visit.  Just couldn't resist a return visit on this trip!
